And So Should You!
"You have changed a lot. "
I am pretty sure everyone and anyone who is reading this will relate to it. To make it more impactful, let's just say this in Hindi; “Tum bahut badal gayi ho”.
I have heard this so many times in my 21 years of life that I have lost count of it and I am pretty sure that this is something that I am never going to stop hearing about.
But is it something I want to continue hearing about?
Whenever somebody used to say this to me I really wondered if they meant it in a positive or a negative way. It always made me think if something is wrong, if something is missing out or if I am overdoing it. As Heracletus, the pre- Socratic Greek philosopher rightly said and I quote, “Change is the only constant in life”.
So to explain it in simple relatable terms, in this technological era, each and every one of us has a smartphone, we don't use the same version of Android we used few months back. We constantly update it.
This is the same thing we do with our lives. We keep on updating ourselves for the betterment.
“Panta Rhei- Life is Flux." In other words, life is flowing and we should learn how to keep up with the flow. Somebody, somewhere once stated, "No man ever steps into the same river twice."
To keep our footing in this ever changing world, we need to change. We need to learn. We need to grow. As the world is changing, so is our life. We cannot have the same outlook towards anything. There have to be variations, corrections. After all, the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
People usually have a certain level of expectations from us according to their convenience. You growing up, you learning better things will change the way you think about certain things, your way of doing it, your opinions about it. Which is totally different from what is expected of you and that does not sit well with others. That is when you are told that you have changed .. but in reality, you have grown. You have adapted. You have updated.
So yes, I would love to hear the infamous dialogue “You have changed.” Now I have a comeback -“Yes, I have grown. You should try it sometime.”
